Healthy Holidays: Sesame Seared Tuna with Satay Sauce and Radish Salad (Recipe)
It’s Day 16 of my Healthy Holidays series, and today I return to food after yesterday’s focus on my top ten tips for seasonal noshing. It was just about this time last year, in fact, that I posted this recipe. This is a dish I made on The Taste, and it was totally delicious. Click here for the “what” and “why” I made tuna in a post that discusses its impact on your own health and our shared environment. Then you can click here for how-to. (I’m a radish fiend, in case you don’t know that about me. More on that very topic is here.)
This dish is easy enough for a weekday and special enough for the holidays. And I love its fresh flavors and rich textures: the umami bang of the tuna; the spicy yet sweet and creamy peanut sauce; and the peppery and colorful mix of radishes. It’s a winner in every way. And you could serve it as either a main course or in a little spoon (as pictured above) as part of a more extensive Festa dei Sette Pesci alongside your oysters, smoked salmon stuffed eggs, and lobster bisque.
Enjoy!

This month I’m sharing my “best of” recipes and tips to help you celebrate the holidays healthfully and happily. The menu features all of the fare that is a regular part of Cooking & Eating the PK Way but is special enough for a holiday table. My philosophy is built upon the fundamentals of nutrition as shown in Harvard’s Healthy Eating Plate, yet the food-loving PK Way features my flair for global flavors—and a tantalizing taste of moderation. Because healthy food shouldn’t suck.
